Introduction to Engineering through Python Programming

16 WEEK STUDY

True engineering is not taught in lectures; it is developed through creation.

Throughout the course, students will engineer their own unique solution to over 10 different computer programming challenges. In addition, the entire class builds up to the final 3 weeks where students are challenged and guided to solve a real-world problem of their choosing with no limitations. This final project is perfect for college applications and building resumes, as students can demonstrate problem-solving abilities and use of the engineering design cycle. Register Here

FAQ:

How is this course taught?

The ENGR class is completed 100% online. The information is presented in prerecorded lecture videos which are available at any time. The “Labs” are engineering challenges that are completed using an online Python IDE (set up and details are in the course). Students will be presented with a lab document (online pdf) and a pre-lab video with details for each lab. Students have access to contact me with any questions at any time in the course. Details of what is required are in the syllabus above.

Can multiple students work together on the labs and quizzes?

Yes, however, I encourage all students to come up with their own solutions. All labs can be completed in numerous ways. My goal is to get students thinking like an engineer by working through different challenges. Each student will need to purchase a copy of the course to get access to all the material. If you have multiple students, such as a co-op, contact me for group pricing.

What age group is the class most suitable for?

The course is not limited to a certain age group. Any students who have taken Algebra I, should have the necessary skills to complete the class.
